BOMA & PAMA Luncheon – Economic Update

BOMA BC and PAMA are joining forces for a larger, combined luncheon at BUILDEX Vancouver! Find out everything you need to know about what 2020 has in store for the commercial and residential markets. Brendon Ogmundson, Chief Economist for the BC Real Estate Association will discuss economic and policy factors that are influencing the residential and commercial market as well as present the outlook for housing and the economy.

Brendon Ogmundson, Chief Economist, BCREA (BC Real Estate Association)

Brendon Ogmundson is the Chief Economist for the BC Real Estate Association. He has been with BCREA for 9 years Brendon specializes in macroeconomic forecasting, housing market analysis and econometric modelling and is responsible for producing forecasts for the BC, Canadian and US economy as well as authoring a quarterly forecast for the BC housing market and Canadian mortgage rates. He is a member of the BC Economic Forecast Council and is also a contributor to the Philadelphia Federal Reserve's Survey of Professional Forecasters.

Brendon is an experienced communicator, frequently appearing both on television and in print for major Canadian media outlets. Brendon holds an MA in Economics from Simon Fraser University and is a CFA Charter holder.

Sean Ingraham is the Vice President of Community Development and Managing Broker for FirstService Residential. FirstService manages 60,000 homes and 450,000 sq/ft of commercial space in Metro-Vancouver with 88 licensees. Sean is a well-respected industry resource and speaker with more then 10 years of property management experience.

Pia Preou, Team Lead, Property and Facilities Management, Hays Recruitment Canada

Pia Preou joined Hays in 2017 as a Recruitment Consultant on the Construction and Development Team. Nominated as “Rookie of the Year” in her first year, Pia has since progressed to Team Lead for the Property division. Pia is passionate about people and is motivated by the knowledge that her work makes a difference to people’s lives. Her day to day job involves providing expert advice to clients and candidates within Property Management, Facilities Management and Operations & Maintenance, across British Columbia. She is committed to being a true consultant to her customers, offering insight as a trusted advisor. As an expert in recruitment and hiring trends, Pia works closely with associations across BC such as BOMA.

 

Michael Scott, Vice President, Building Division, Impact Recruitment

Michael Scott is a Vancouver-based recruitment professional with over two decades of experience in Canada and Australia. With proven success in both agency and internal recruitment, Michael joined Impact Recruitment in 2012. Bringing with him an extensive network of professional contacts and a vast knowledge of the recruitment industry, Michael played an integral role in establishing the company’s Building + Construction Division, which expanded into the property management industry in 2013. In the years following, Michael has fostered relationships with top organizations and associations, such as VRCA, UDI, ICBA, PAMA, BOMA, HAVAN and the BCIT School of Construction and the Environment. In his current role as Director of the Building Division, Michael is a coach and mentor to eleven individuals whose respective teams specialize in Construction + Development, Construction Subtrades and Property, Building + Facilities Management. Impact Recruitment’s Building Division consistently places top talent with clients in organizations at a local, national and multi-national level.

Lillian Tummonds, General Manager - Pacific Centre Complex & HSBC Building, Cadillac Fairview

Lillian is currently the General Manager of the Pacific Centre and HSBC Building Complex – which spans 3 city blocks of downtown Vancouver, comprising of the CF Pacific Centre Mall - as well as 8 of downtown Vancouver’s most preeminent office buildings including TD Tower, 725 Granville, 701 W. Georgia, 609 Granville, 777 Dunsmuir, 700 & 750 W. Pender and the HSBC Building. She has been in property management for over 24 years - working in various realms of the business including accounting, leasing, and subsequently moving into the General Manager role. Lillian is very involved with various property management associations in Vancouver and is currently the Vice Chair of BOMA BC.

Born and raised in Vancouver (and speaks conversational Cantonese – so she can order dim sum!), Lillian entered the property management world after a brief stint in selling homes and jewelry, and toiling four years at UBC gaining her Psychology Degree. Lillian enjoys volunteering with the YWCA and various children’s charities and spending time in the beautiful BC wilderness with her family and her beloved dog Daisy.

Bryan Yu, Deputy Chief Economist, Central 1

Bryan joined Central 1’s Economics team in 2010 and moved into the role of Deputy Chief Economist in 2017. He oversees the team’s provincial economic analysis, and is author and editor of the flagship Economic Analysis reports, weekly research notes, and special reports. He speaks regularly at credit union and industry events and is frequently contacted by media to provide national and provincial economic commentary.

Prior to Central 1, Bryan spent three years at the B.C. Real Estate Association building out the market analysis capabilities of the new function and conducting housing research. He also spent time with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation as an economist in its Calgary and Vancouver offices, and as a researcher on immigration economics.

Bryan holds a Master’s degree In Economics from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Arts (honours) from the University of Manitoba. He currently serves on the boards of the B.C. Paraplegic Foundation and Canadian Association for Business Economics, and is past-president of the Association of Professional Economists of B.C.
