Leveraging Social Media to Grow your Interior Design Business

Join fellow Interior Designers at the IDIBC Leaders Breakfast to hear from two leading marketing mavens on how to leverage social media to grow your business. The speakers will provide an overview of the social landscape, highlighting which social media channels are most effective for your business. Getting into the nitty gritty of content, Julie and Katie will discuss which type of content is best suited to each channel and how to tailor your messaging to achieve the best possible outcome for your business. The speakers will touch on the importance of timing and how to not get caught up on the wrong focus. Attendees will also learn how involved to get in their personal brand. The session will summarize with new tactics to maximize and transform your digital engagement.

As the Principal of the largest and most disruptive PR firm west of Toronto, Katie believes in working hard and staying humble. A journalist by trade, her began her career in PR at 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. In 2006, she co-founded the money-mentoring business Smart Cookies and was featured on Oprah. In anticipation of the 2008 economic crisis she was among the first to focus on making financial information engaging and relevant to a female audience. By 2009, Katie was co-hosting her own W Network series and had co-authored the financial best seller Smart Cookies Guide to Making More Dough.

Named among the youngest women to rank on the 40 under 40, Katie also founded STEM the STEM Spotlight awards, a student awards program recognizing skilled sector apprenticeships in the STEM sectors and oversees an incubator within her business called InResidence. Katie is an active financial contributor to Global News, CTV, and owns and operates and commercial real estate group called LongGame. Katie is dedicated to her community and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver and is chair of the board for Small Business BC.

Julie has worked in digital & social media for 13 years; working with some of Canada's largest clients. Julie has written and led the social media strategies for brands such as NFL Canada, Viacom New York, Home Hardware, No Frills and Shopper's Drug Mart to name a few. Julie brings her big agency experience to the local Vancouver market with clients like Kelly Deck Design, helping brands create local strategies. She also hosts company workshops and teaches Social Media Strategy at BrainStation Vancouver.
